For many people engaged in industrial production, transportation chain products are commonplace. As an important symbol of automated production, its role is irreplaceable. Under high temperature conditions, transportation chains usually suffer from wear, corrosion, chain elongation, noise, and chain oil dripping.

Frequently Asked Questions about Transport Chains

(1) The chain is not lubricated, causing the chain to be often in a dry grinding state and causing loud noise;

(2) The chain pin is severely worn, and the chain stretches and becomes longer than 1000mm;

(3) The chain is severely rusted, and rust residue falls on the surface of the product, affecting product quality;

(4) In the early stage of operation of the equipment, ordinary chain oil was used for lubrication, and serious dripping occurred.

Lubricating oil requirements for transport chains

(1) Better oil performance can be firmly adsorbed on the inner and outer surfaces of the chain, and will not be thrown off by the centrifugal force of the chain, or be squeezed by the load and break away from the friction node.

(2) Better penetration ability can penetrate into each friction link of the chain link to form a boundary film and reduce wear.

(3) Good antioxidant and stability properties will prevent accelerated oxidation and formation of oxides when in contact with air during operation.

How to lubricate transport chains

(1) Manual regular lubrication: Use an oil can or oil brush to inject oil 1 times per shift. Suitable for transmission with low speed ν≤4m/s.

(2) Oil dripping lubrication: Use an oil cup or oiler to pass the oil pipe through the oil pipe to the gap between the inner and outer chain plates of the loose chain, and drip lubricating oil 5 or 20 every minute. Applicable to drives with ν≤10m/s.

(3) Oil bath lubrication: Dip the loose chain into the oil pan, and the oil immersion depth is 6 to 12mm. Applicable to drives with ν=12m/s.

(4) Splash lubrication: In a sealed container, use an oil slinger to throw up the oil, flow it along the shell to the oil collection point, and then guide it to the chain. The linear speed of the oil dump plate should be>3m/s。

(5) Pressure lubrication: When using high-power transmission with ν≥8m/s, a special oil pump should be used to spray oil to the sprocket chain meshing point. The fuel injection pipe mouth is located at the bite point of the chain. The number of fuel injection pipe mouths at each bite point is (n+1), where n is the number of chain rows.

Analysis of high temperature transportation chain lubricants and chain grease

Today's high-temperature chain lubricants appear in different industries and fields because of their high temperature resistance and lubrication and protection functions. Especially the current chain oil can also lubricate and protect the chain in the equipment, so the current high-temperature chain lubricating oil is still widely used.

To understand the specific differences between high-temperature chain oil and chain grease, several points should be considered. The first is adhesion. When a frictional contact is stationary, grease retains its original shape and does not flow away under gravity. When the contact is moving, grease does not leak under centrifugal force in the same way as high-temperature chain oil. High-temperature chain oil behaves differently and does not perform as well in terms of adhesion.

Within the service-temperature range, grease in practice has a wider operating range than high-temperature chain oil. The latter can be used at high temperatures because of its heat resistance, whereas modern greases can operate at both high and low temperatures. Grease-lubricated equipment can have a simple structure, simplifying design and reducing cost. High-temperature chain oil, however, requires lubrication within an enclosed system, making the equipment structure more complex and the cost higher.

When it comes to the differences between high-temperature chain lubricating oil and grease, there are actually many. For example, chain lubricating oil can be directly applied to the metal surface to provide certain protection, and because the protective film is relatively thick, it can isolate various acid and alkali gases. However, high-temperature chain lubricating oil has relatively poor protection capabilities.
