Cylinder piston rod connection method

1, principle of connection method of linear motion mechanism

The linear motion mechanism has the following 2 typical connection methods.

● In the rotary type, the coupling absorbs rotational runout and transmits rotational motion when moving linearly.

● In the direct-acting type, the cylinder and the movable body are connected through a floating joint. The "play" provided by a floating joint serves the same purpose as a coupling.

● If the cylinder is directly connected to the movable body without using a floating joint, it will directly overload the piston gasket in the cylinder, which may cause cylinder failure.

2, floating joint use case

[Figure 1] is the standard connection method for cylinders and floating joints.

[Figure 2] is a diagram showing the components of the floating joint.

It consists of four parts: bracket, nut, connecting ring and bolt. The space inside the bracket has the "play" of a nut.

[Picture 3] and [Photo 1] are usage examples when using mounting flange type floating joints.
