Harmonic reducers play an important role in modern mechanical transmission systems with their advantages of high precision, large transmission ratio and compact structure. Its overall performance and working life largely depend on whether the selection of internal bearings is scientific and reasonable. Scientifically selecting bearing types in different application scenarios can not only improve equipment operating efficiency, but is also directly related to the stability and service life of the system.

1. In-depth analysis of working conditions requirements

Before determining the bearing model, it is first necessary to conduct a systematic analysis of the actual working conditions of the equipment, including the operating environment, force characteristics, operating speed, and accuracy level.

(1) Operating environment: Environmental conditions directly affect the material selection and structural design of bearings. For example, in high-temperature environments, ceramic bearings with good heat resistance or steel bearings with special heat treatment should be used. For environments with moisture or corrosive media, priority should be given to bearings made of stainless steel or with anti-corrosion coatings. If the equipment is used in a dusty or seriously polluted place, the design of the sealing structure is particularly important, and a bearing with a higher protection level needs to be selected.

(2) Force type: The load type that the bearing needs to bear is the basis for selection. If the system is dominated by radial loads, such as rotating machinery, you can choose deep groove ball bearings and other types that are dominated by radial loads; if the system is dominated by axial loads, such as thrust structures, then thrust ball bearings are more suitable. For conditions where combined radial and axial loads exist, angular contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings often have more advantages.

(3) Speed requirements: There are differences in the speed adaptability of different bearing types. For example, deep groove ball bearings are suitable for medium-speed rotation scenarios, while angular contact ball bearings are more suitable for high-speed rotation scenarios. Under high-speed conditions, it is also necessary to ensure that lubrication and heat dissipation measures can match the operating needs of the bearing.

(4) Accuracy level: Harmonic reducers are mostly used in precision transmission, so the accuracy level of the bearings cannot be ignored. The accuracy levels increase from P0 to P2. P0 is the ordinary level and P2 is the ultra-precision level. In high-precision scenarios such as industrial robots or precision instruments, bearings of P5 and above should be used to ensure the consistency and accuracy of transmission.

2. Reasonably match the bearing type

After clarifying the working condition requirements, the structural characteristics and performance advantages of each type of bearing should be combined for matching.

(1) Deep groove ball bearings: simple structure, low friction, good speed adaptability, suitable for medium-speed and medium-precision applications that mainly bear radial load and light axial load, such as small motors or light machinery.

(2) Angular contact ball bearings: They can bear both radial and axial loads, and have good high-speed performance and positioning accuracy. They are widely used in industrial robot joints, precision spindles and other occasions that require high dynamic performance. The contact angle design needs to be determined based on the load ratio. The larger the contact angle, the better it is to withstand axial force.

(3) Tapered roller bearings: have strong load-bearing capacity and high rigidity, and are suitable for equipment with heavy load or high rigidity requirements, such as large robotic arms or heavy machine tools. However, due to its structural characteristics, its rotational speed performance is relatively limited and requires good lubrication and cooling in high-speed situations.

(4) Thrust ball bearings: suitable for pure axial load scenarios, with high axial load-bearing capacity and low friction characteristics, and are commonly used in thrust mechanisms or high-precision measuring instruments. It is necessary to pay attention to its one-way load-bearing characteristics. It needs to be used in pairs when bearing force in two directions.

3. Taking into account auxiliary influencing factors

In addition to basic performance parameters, factors such as lubrication methods, sealing structures, and installation and maintenance also affect the long-term stable operation of bearings.

(1) Lubrication method: Grease lubrication has a simple structure and is easy to maintain, and is suitable for low- to medium-speed or general precision situations; oil lubrication has good heat dissipation effects and is suitable for high-speed or high-precision scenes, but the system complexity is high. When selecting, the appropriate lubrication scheme should be determined based on the operating conditions.

(2) Sealing performance: Good sealing can effectively prevent the intrusion of contaminants and extend the life of the bearing. Contact seals, such as rubber sealing rings, have good sealing effects but have a slight friction; non-contact seals, such as labyrinth seals, have no additional friction, but require higher structural accuracy. The sealing method needs to be comprehensively selected based on environmental cleanliness and operating accuracy.

(3) Installation and maintenance: Whether the bearing structure is easy to install and disassemble, and whether it supports maintenance-free or self-lubricating, also affects the later use cost and maintenance cycle. When equipment maintenance conditions are limited, priority should be given to bearing types that are easy to maintain or designed for long life.

In summary, the selection of harmonic reducer bearings needs to start from the working condition analysis, comprehensively consider multi-dimensional factors such as load, speed, accuracy, environment, etc., and reasonably match the bearing type and auxiliary structure. Scientific and systematic selection strategies help improve the reliability and economy of equipment operation, and provide solid support for the stable operation of various high-end equipment.
