Like cars, forklifts also have wearing parts. In order to ensure the safety and performance of the forklift, it generally needs to be replaced in time.
1, forklift oil filter
In order to ensure the cleanliness of the forklift oil and the oil circuit in the forklift engine, an oil filter is installed in the forklift engine lubrication system. The purpose is to prevent impurities from mixing into the engine oil and causing oxidation to produce colloid and sludge from clogging the oil circuit. The replacement cycle of the forklift oil filter is to replace it completely with the engine oil at about 240-1000 hours of engine operation.
2, forklift air filter
The primary function of a forklift air filter is to block dust and particles drawn in during engine intake. If the filter element is not cleaned or replaced for a long time, it can no longer block these contaminants. Dust entering the forklift engine causes abnormal cylinder wall wear. It is therefore best to clean the forklift air filter once a month, or approximately every 240 hours. Simply blow it clean with an air pump; do not wash it with liquid. A forklift air filter should be replaced during maintenance after every 240–1000 hours of engine operation.
3, forklift gasoline and diesel filters
As the Euro III standard approaches implementation, the quality of gasoline used in forklifts continues to improve, but some impurities and water can still enter it. Gasoline must therefore be filtered before entering the forklift's fuel pump to keep the fuel passages clear, remove water and impurities, and ensure normal engine operation. Diesel filters work on the same principle and serve the same purpose as gasoline-engine filters. Because both gasoline and diesel filters are disposable, they must be replaced at intervals of approximately 240–1,000 hours.
4, spark plug
The spark plug directly affects the engine's acceleration performance and fuel consumption performance. If it is not maintained for a long time or even replaced on time, it will lead to severe carbon deposits in the engine and abnormal operation in the cylinder. Under normal use, the spark plug replacement cycle is about 3000-6000 hours. When selecting a spark plug, first confirm the model and heat level used in the forklift engine. When the forklift feels that the engine power is insufficient while driving, it should be inspected and maintained.
5, timing belt
The timing transmission mechanism of some internal combustion liquefied or gas engines of forklifts is belt driven, and its main component is rubber, which has a short service life. If the timing belt is not replaced at the specified time, the transmission mechanism will be damaged after aging and will not work properly. In severe cases, the engine may be scrapped. The replacement cycle of the timing leather is about 6000-9000 hours. It is recommended to replace it in advance.
6, forklift tires
Forklift tires are mainly divided into two types: solid tires and pneumatic tires. If cracks appear in the sidewall of a pneumatic tire, it should be replaced for safety even if its mileage limit has not been reached. Replacement is mandatory when tread depth falls below 3 mm or the tread reaches the wear indicator. The advantages of solid tires are that they cannot blow out and require no puncture repairs. Forklifts can operate normally on surfaces with metal fragments, screws, or similar debris, without concern that a tire blowout will put them out of service. Once a new solid tire is installed, it can be used until it reaches the wear mark and normal operation is affected, at which point replacement is required. No intermediate repairs are needed, and there is no need to worry about tire damage caused by the operating environment.
7, forklift brake pads
When doing forklift maintenance, it is particularly important to check the forklift brake pads of the forklift braking system. It can be said that it directly affects the driver's life safety. Under normal circumstances, the forklift brake pads will gradually wear out as the mileage and number of braking increases. If the thickness of the brake pad is less than 0.6 cm, it must be replaced. Under normal driving conditions, the replacement cycle is about 3000-6000 hours or when the brakes are poor, the brake pads must be inspected or replaced.
8, forklift battery/forklift battery.
Inspection and replacement are generally carried out after approximately two years, depending on condition. Many current forklift models use maintenance-free traction batteries that provide durable, sustained power, support 1000 charge-discharge cycles, and allow approximately 5 hours of continuous use on a single charge. Battery life is closely related to the customer's routine care, including the duration of the initial charge and whether the battery is recharged promptly after use. Lead-acid batteries must not be overcharged, and undercharging must also be avoided. Recharging immediately after the electrical energy has been used up makes sulfation less likely and extends battery life.
Its replacement cycle is generally one to two years, and then it is determined whether it needs to be replaced after inspection. Some brands of relatively good batteries can be used for more than two years and can still be used normally. Because the international price of lead is high, the price of batteries is relatively high.
9, oil used in forklifts
The various fluids required for vehicle operation include hydraulic oil, engine oil, hydraulic transmission fluid (gearbox or transmission fluid), gear oil, brake fluid, and antifreeze. Depending on vehicle use, engine oil is generally changed at around 240–1,000 hours or 3 months. Check the engine oil level frequently and keep it above the lower limit. Brake fluid is recommended to be changed at around 10,000 hours. Antifreeze is generally changed every 2 years or around 10,000 hours. Monitor its level routinely and replenish it promptly if it falls below the lower limit. Transmission fluid is changed at around 6,000–12,000 hours, while hydraulic oil and gear oil are changed at around 9,000–12,000 hours.
10, forklift brake disc (brake disc)
The forklift brake disc and brake shoes rub together. When the brake shoes are worn, the brake disc will also wear to a certain extent. This principle is very simple, but many people only pay attention to replacing the shoe when doing forklift maintenance, but often ignore the replacement of the brake disc. The consequences of excessive wear of the brake disc are very serious. Generally speaking, after the brake shoes are replaced 2-3 times, the brake disc should also be replaced.
11, forklift generator bearing
Nowadays, many repairmen are jokingly called "loaders", which means they can only change parts but not repair forklift parts. In fact, the service life of some forklift spare parts can be greatly extended as long as they are maintained according to regulations, and the forklift generator is one of them. Generally speaking, after the forklift has been driven for 9000-12000 hours, the generator should be inspected. In addition, the bearings of the water pump, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor should also be checked regularly.
12, electrical connector
Except for a few important electrical connectors on forklifts that use platinum contacts, most of the other connectors are made of copper-zinc alloy. Under normal circumstances, its reliability is guaranteed. However, if the vehicle is operated in a harsh environment of high temperature, high humidity, and bumps for a long time, these connectors may become loose, corroded, or have poor contact. And some weird electrical faults are mostly caused by this. Therefore, during routine maintenance, all electrical plug-in accessories of the forklift should also be checked regularly.
