The assembly is divided into two parts, the bearing component assembly and the overall assembly of the reducer.

The process of installing gears and bearings is as follows:

1.Assemble in sequence

Assembly should follow the specified sequence, generally proceeding from the center toward both ends. Larger gears are usually installed before smaller ones. The fits between gears, bearings, and shafts are all interference fits. For bearing installation, heat the bearing in oil, usually preheating it to approximately 100°C. Then use a copper bar as a buffer while tapping it into position against the shaft shoulder. Gears can be heated in oil or directly with an oxy-fuel welding torch and driven directly into their installation position with a hammer. Very large gears and bearings can also be pressed into place with a jack after heating.

You should use a ruler to measure whether it is installed in place.

2.Overall assembly

Before assembling the reducer, clean the upper and lower housings and every mating surface, then install the high-speed shaft. Its helical gear meshes with the second shaft's helical gear, so the second shaft determines the high-speed shaft's location. Adjust the second shaft's lateral position and the high-speed shaft's fore-and-aft position until the gears mesh well. To check, hold the second shaft with the left hand and turn the high-speed shaft with the right, checking for rocking in either direction. Then fit the end covers. Shims are usually needed between the covers, bearings and housing for adjustment; record the shim arrangement at every cover afterward.

After the high-speed axis and the second axis are positioned, the positioning of the third axis is based on the meshing of the upper gear with the small gear on the second axis. The thickness of the small gear is usually thicker than that of the large gear. Therefore, adjust the left and right positions of the three axes so that the large gear is in the middle of the small gear. Then install the end cover on the heating plate.

After all the shafts are positioned, remove the end caps and gaskets and place them in order. Apply sealant to the seaming surfaces of the upper and lower shells. Install positioning pins on the lower shell. Cover the upper shell and install bolts. Then install the gaskets and end caps in sequence. Finally, reinstall the original coupling, fill it with an appropriate amount of lubricating oil, cover the sight hole cover and breathable cap, and the reducer repair work is completed.
